Course Description:
In Spanish II we will begin by reviewing how to speak about ourselves and describe many things in the world around us. We will recall correct pronunciation and standard verb conjugations. We will begin learning how to speak in the past tense. Using this as our focus, we will continue to work on improving conversation, fluidity and creativity.
As always, we will incorporate the study of Spanish speaking cultures into our every day lessons. This will include learning about art, music, cinema, food and various traditions of all the Spanish speaking countries.

Course Description:

Spanish III
At level III, students should feel more confident in their ability to use Spanish beyond the school premises. Final grades of “B” or better in levels I and II will be used as a guideline for consideration of placement in this course. Spanish III with a 77% or above is a prerequisite for Spanish IV H. Students will improve their ability to listen, read, write and speak Spanish. As with both preceding levels, the primary emphasis will be upon communication. Students will utilize a variety of tenses and a wider vocabulary when generating sentences and/or compositions.
Full year course; typically during the 11th grade year

Course Description:
Spanish IV (H)
The Spanish IV honors course is an elected year of language study after the required sequence of Spanish I – III. Successful completion of those years is a prerequisite for this course. Students in this course will have the opportunity to develop their Spanish language skills to a higher level of competency that includes honing pronunciation, expanding writing skills and the study of Spanish literature. Students should expect to converse daily in the target language and complete weekly reading assignments outside of class. In addition, students will demonstrate language mastery through teaching younger or less accomplished language learners.
Full year course; typically during the 12th grade year
